Akallo Grace Grall went through hell, then college. Most children in Northern Uganda only get hell, because college costs too much. Now you can help them move up from hell and on to college.

"Now I have hope," says Grace. "Help me pass it on to others."

Akallo Grace is one of thousands of sufferers from the 17-year war and disorder caused by the so-called Lord's Resistance Army and its fanatical leader Joseph Kony in the northern section of Uganda. Families have been driven from their homes and live either in IDP (internally displaced people) camps or sleep out on the streets of crowded towns. Schools are disrupted and farms go untended as people fear to be exposed to the atrocities of LRA. Children like Akallo Grace have been abducted, enslaved or forced to become child soldiers. When they escape and come home, they need intensive rehabilitation. All in all, many have no hope for the future.

Now you can be a Partner with Grace. Akallo Grace escaped the hell of the northern war zone when she was sponsored to Uganda Christian University, a dynamic private university near Kampala, Uganda's capital city. You can extend opportunity to others. The Northern Uganda Scholarship Initiative will offer tuition scholarships to students from those regions of Northern and Eastern Uganda that have been impacted by the war. Sponsors pay $800 per year for each student, which covers tuition and fees (students pay for housing and incidental costs).
