On 22 January 2004, Uganda Christian University received the endorsement from the National Council for Higher Education to receive a University Charter.

In a letter from Prof. A.B.K. Kasozi, Executive Director of the National Council for Higher Education, the University was informed that its application had been approved by two oversight bodies. "On behalf of the Council, I would like to congratulate you, the University Council, Senate, Staff and students of the University on this momentous achievement," Kasozi wrote.

The recommendation is now sent to the Minister of Education and Sports for his signature. Upon his signing, the Charter will be signed into law by the President.

"We are thrilled to hear about this development,” commented Prof. Stephen Noll, Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, “and we look forward to the completion of the chartering process."
